For the International Polar Year 2009, the Bipolar exhibition showcased the work and daily life of researchers, some of whom are based in the Belgian Princess Elisabeth station in the Antarctic, others on the SS Tara amidst the Arctic ice. The exhibition at the Atomium provided a fresh perspective on these extreme territories where part of the future of the Earth and of Humanity is being played out.
