In Diegem, just opposite Brussels Airport, property developer Ghelamco has just inaugurated its latest project.  It is a real architectural jewel housing a multitude of functions, such as offices, hotel spaces and restaurants. The building provides an exceptional living and working environment, offering a diversity of perspectives and experiences, with a profusion of unique and recognisable spaces.

With this in mind, Neopaul, a company specialising in the creation of illuminated advertising such as neon art and LED screens, called on Inytium for its expertise in the installation of dynamic video lighting and Façade Media.

We worked with manufacturer Vivalyte to design a bespoke solution using graphic and video generators, which transform light signals into veritable visual works of art. This one brings together a number of challenges:

  • At the bottom of the balconies surrounding “The Wings”, continuous LED strips 4 centimetres high have been placed, made up of more than 40,000 pixels 10 centimetres wide.
  • Around 480,000 LEDs are incorporated into these strips, for a total length of just over 4 kilometres. Considerable calculation and programming work was required to achieve consistent and precise dynamic video effects. The LED strips were integrated transparently into the aluminium cladding of the façade, so that they would not be visible during the day.
  • Finally, co-extrusion was used to achieve a perfect balance, with the LED strips fixed in a special silicone profile, allowing the building to move freely with temperature variations without affecting the lighting installation. In terms of waterproofing too, a considered approach has been taken, so that there are no visible connections to the outside.

It’s a project in which we’re extremely proud to have played a part, from the technical concept through to supply, installation, programming of the effects and finally commissioning on site.  In short, it’s a 100% Inytium project that you’ll be able to appreciate every time you take a plane, thanks to its proximity to our national airport.
