The foundation stone of the La Louvière theatre, designed by architect Paul Emonts in the style of a ‘World Exhibition’ in the fashion of the times, was laid on 29 May 1958. It opened in 1960 and has since hosted many famous artists: Juliette Gréco, Claude Nougaro, Jacques Higelin, Chick Cora, to name just a few.
However, upon the discovery of cracks in the stage area, the decision was made to carry out a number of essential renovation works. These renovations started in June 2009 and were completed on 15 November 2017.
The local authority commissioned Inytium for the stage lighting and electroacoustics.
For the lighting, the users opted for the Robert Juliat and ADB ranges for the traditional projectors, and a motorised yoke from Robe . All the lighting in the theatre is controlled using a grandMA2 light.
L-Acoustics’ Kara system was selected for the sound, with no fewer than 8 speakers on each side of the theatre and 5 in the centre.
The technical director chose a Yamaha CL5 digital mixer with Rio 3224 digital stage box for front of house.
